Our sheep are so thankful! See how they wander and graze? After a full month of Henry being a farmer 'out-standing in his field' the fences are complete and we are enjoying the sight of our sheep in our fields enjoying the green grass of home! Henry had help from various kids and even hired some help but he got it done. He is so glad.
We put many sheep out to pasture - the ewes along with a few rams so stay tuned. In five months we should have more sheep to tell you about.
Life has been good on the farm. We have enjoyed a busy summer with a bountiful garden and the tasks of seeding our lawn, emptying the old house, farm chores and gardens to tend. It has been good and now we are busy with some of the same things - but the grass is growing. We purchased a business in town that we are trying to get the hang of and that is proving interesting for this country couple. It will be a balancing act for us as we figure out the demands of the store and the farm and try to keep the kids busy and happy as well!
As with everything, new demands keep us on our toes and make us more appreciative of free time. So I feel more organized and will do my best to update more frequently. Now that I have the organized time!
(that was a simple promise since the last post was in the spring and Hannah did it for us.)

Triplets x 2

In the past few weeks, Dad has had two sets of triplets in the barn. It is not common for the Ile de France ewes to have triplets, so TWO sets is a sort of big deal. The first set of triplets also has the anomoly of one lamb with a black spot on its leg. We call this one Holstein.

the shed: part 3

These photos (with the exception of the last one) were all taken from the doorway in the dining room! I {Hannah} tried to go around the masses of mud to give you this last perspective this afternoon. Dad says they should be finished on Monday or Tuesday.

Here we go again!

Hannah writes:

Greetings from Gads Hill!
Dad and Mom are building again!
This time around it is a drive shed and shop.

Dave & Dad

The new shop is being built behind the house and a little to the west but not as far west as the barn is. Framing was started this past week. It looks like the walls and rafters should be up at the end of this coming week.

sunny days

{Hannah writes}

I think the question I am most often asked in regards to my family is: "Are they settling into their new house?"

I think the correct answer would be: "Yes."

I'm also not sure how much I can say. I am only there once or twice a week and can't necessarily tell you how settled they are or aren't. {I can't ever seem to remember which kitchen drawer holds the serving spoons, for example, so perhaps I am not quite settled in their new house.}

On Sunday past, the weather was above freezing, making it rather nice to be outside. Dad took Kierra & Dayna out on the four-wheeler and was eventually joined by myself, Dave, Cadence, Chris and his friend Scott. Here are a few pictures from that afternoon.

It should also be noted that when I was my turn to be pulled on the GT, it was Kierra who managed to dump me in the snow!

family day in the new house

Just so you notice the tree we put up in the living room this year!! IT wasn't that huge but we did manage to put the gifts under it - good thing it was light enough to put on top of the pile!
Chris and Cadence always enjoy time together!

quality time for us all!

December 21 & 22 - Moving In

It was over a week ago on the morning of Friday, December 21, 2007 that they received the okay to move in! The Aldridges joined in on the moving-in fun (and supper, of course).
